Education and Training

Mubadala Petroleum has been supporting many educational projects ranging from local scholarships for underprivileged students to skills training and school facility improvements.

In Abu Dhabi, Mubadala Petroleum has been actively supporting a number of young “People of Determination” with their academic and social education, to ensure that these children are able to achieve their full potentials, and to empower them with quality educational and development opportunities for a fulfilling life.

In 2017, the UAE Government decided that people with disabilities to be called “People of Determination” or “the Determined” to recognize their strong will and encourage them further to challenge their circumstances. To support especially the underprivileged determined children, we have been funding since 2017 the educational and physiotherapy programs of four orphaned girls at the Rashid Center for the Determined Ones. In addition to this financial support, our employees annually visit the center and engage with the children and staff in a variety of activities and see the difference our support makes to them.

In 2019, we have also expanded our support to include three autistic children from underprivileged families at Al Hanan Center in Abu Dhabi.

In Thailand, Mubadala Petroleum has been offering scholarships to elementary and high school students from coastal communities in the Rayong province since 2008, benefiting to date over 3,500 children. In addition, university scholarships to underprivileged students from fishermen families have allowed them to pursue their undergraduate studies in fields such as marine resources, environmental management and fishery.

In Indonesia, we have provided over 130 scholarships to students from fishing communities in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan since 2015 to pursue higher education at the Kotabaru Polytechnic. We have also funded soft skills and safety training for the students. Most recently, three former scholarship recipients who graduated with an engineering degree, have jointed our Ruby offshore operations as new employees.

In Malaysia, we have supported 10 underprivileged students of Diploma in Oil and Gas Pipeline Installation Technology at Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC) in Bintulu, Sarawak with scholarships. Mubadala Petroleum also sponsored a 1-day basic oil and gas safety passport training session for 25 oil and gas course students.
